Nearly two decades in, my path from advertising design to product strategy to hands-on engineering taught me that influence without ownership has limits. Today I design and build AI-native products end-to-end, spatial thinking tools with local-first RAG, talent operations platforms, full-stack systems with payment automation and AI-powered engagement, owning everything from data modeling and API integration to interface systems and motion design. My design background shapes how I architect: I optimize for legibility, trust, and long-term reasoning over short-term speed. I'm looking for roles where design craft, systems thinking, and engineering rigor converge to build things that preserve human agency at scale.
Design Engineer
FREELANCE / Feb 2023 — PresentCurrent
Design and build AI-native digital products end-to-end for founders and small teams, owning interface systems, application architecture, and integration logic.
- Defining end-to-end product and system structures, including interface boundaries, systems architecture, and documentation standards to enable maintainable, AI-assisted development.
- Engineering full-stack application systems across interface, application logic, and integration layers using modern JavaScript-based frameworks, balancing rapid iteration with long-term resilience
- Building AI agent workflows synthesizing multi-structured data domains into a server-side prompt context, resulting in instant, updatable recruiter Q&A without manual content rewrites.
- Designing governance-first agent runtime with proposal-based edits, context budgets, and audit logging, ensuring all AI-driven changes required explicit human approval and were fully reversible.
- Implementing a context-aware RAG systems with document chunking, vector embeddings, and semantic retrieval, enabling AI assistance grounded in the user's own knowledge base.
